11 Situations Every Designated Driver Has Been In

It’s almost the weekend; what are your plans? Without fail, some of us always find ourselves being asked to be the designated driver, and the heroes who volunteer as DD know it can be a thankless, but important, job.

If you’re always finding yourself in the driver’s seat, here are 11 situations you’re all too familiar with.

1. When your friends automatically volunteer you to DD (without asking) because you always do it.

2. You don’t mind–you were going to offer anyway–but it would just be nice to be asked once in a while.

3. When you’re ordering a non-alcoholic drink at the bar, and you have to repeat “No, I want a soda, just a soda” at least three times.

4. When you’re tired and ready to go home, but your crew won’t leave the dance floor.

5. When you’re finally headed home, and everyone begs you to take them through a drive-thru. (If you have good friends, they might even treat you!)

6. When your friends start treating you like a taxi and offer your DD services to complete strangers.

7. When that one friend decides they’re “fine” to drive at the end of the night, and you have to convince them not to. (Pro-tip: Always collect keys at the start of the night!)

8. When your friends repeatedly call you “Mom” or “Dad” from the backseat (which never gets old, by the way…), but it’s fine because you’re totally cool with turning this car around right now!

9. When all of a sudden your friends think they are music critics and start complaining about your radio choices.

10. When your friends can’t remember all the details from the night before, but you’re always more than ready to help them fill in the blanks.

11. But you know that being the DD is an important responsibility, and you’re happy to do it!

It’s summer, which means pool parties and days spent on the lake, but drinking and driving is never an option. At Latorre Insurance, we would like to extend a very special thank you to everyone who volunteers to be the designated driver. It might not be the most glamorous job, but it is the most important.

And remember, if you do need assistance dealing with a DUI/DWI, we’re here to help.
