The year 2013 saw several changes in healthcare, as mandated by the Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act (PPACA). The goal of the PPACA has been to increase the quality and affordability of health insurance, but we understand that some of the changes might be confusing. As you may be aware, the first open enrollment period began on October 1, 2013 and ended on March 31, 2014, and the second enrollment period will begin in just a couple of short months.
Here are a few things you need to know about the upcoming Open Enrollment Period:
1. It is from November 15, 2014 to February 15, 2015.
2. You can enroll before this period only if you have a qualifying life event (marriage, divorce, baby, etc.)
