As you might be aware, last Tuesday, July 2, 2013, the Obama administration announced that the employer mandate penalty will be delayed for an additional year, until January 1, 2015. This penalty requires that all employers with at least 50 full-time-equivalent employees provide these employees with healthcare coverage. The penalty will require a complex reporting system, and officials hope that this postponement will allow them the time to work through and resolve any unforeseen issues.
A statement from the White House is as follows:
