Charlotte, Greensboro, & Monroe Health Insurance: Advice for College Grads

For graduates of December 2012 and Spring 2013, now is the time to begin preparing for the future. In between the resume editing, cover-letting writing, and job applications, don’t forget to consider another important factor of your future: health insurance. Before choosing the right insurance path for you, there are a few options to consider.

  • Employer-Based Health Insurance:  Employer-based health insurance frequently comes with benefits, with which you should be familiar and understand the meaning of each benefit.  The premiums each month are often split between the employer and the employee.  Additionally, you can’t be rejected from employer-based health insurance due to pre-existing medical conditions.  Question to Ask: “How much will be taken from my wages?”
  • Individually-Purchased Health Insurance:  For young and healthy college graduates, finding an affordable insurance plan can be easy, although individuals may be rejected due to pre-existing medical conditions under this kind of plan.  Question to Ask:  “Can I see multiple quotes and comparisons of plans?”
  • Coverage from a Parent:  You are able to stay under your parents coverage plan until you are 26.  Question to Ask:  “Will my coverage be reduced if I move out of state?”

As you begin your journey post-graduation, stay informed on insurance and health care reform news.  Be sure to contact one of your trusted agents at Latorre Insurance in Charlotte to begin reviewing plans or with any questions.  They are here to assist with your Charlotte, Greensboro, and Monroe health insurance needs.
