6 Tips for Flu Prevention

The flu season has hit us hard this year, and experts predict that it’s only going to worsen throughout the month of January. Keep your kids and yourself well with these tips:

1. Wash your hands. Keep your hands clean throughout the day, and take extra care to wash them after shaking someone else’s hand and going to the bathroom.

2. Don’t touch your face. Germs can easily enter your body through the nose and eye, so keep your hands away! The same goes for biting your nails, underneath which germs tend to hide out.

3. Get plenty of sleep. Lack of sleep will only weaken your immune system, making you more susceptible to the flu and other illnesses.

4. Mind your diet. Fruits and vegetables will give your body the shield it needs to defend itself from the flu.

5. Exercise. Working out does more than keep your body fit and toned. It strengthens your immune system as well!

6. Keep your distance. Try to avoid contact with friends and family that you know are sick, and if you can’t, be sure to keep your hands washed and your space disinfected at all times.

Unfortunately, even the best efforts could leave you sick in bed with the flu. If you’re already sick, be sure to go to the doctor for proper guidance. Also, keep yourself away from family and friends, drink plenty of fluids, and rest!
