Am I At Fault If…?

Picture it: You’re headed down the road. Maybe you’re on your commute home from work, maybe you’re headed to pick the kids up from school, but regardless, you’re minding your own business, when slam. The car in front of you slams on his breaks and comes to a full stop. You react quickly. You try to brake. But unfortunately, you still end up hitting his car. Everyone’s okay, but there is some damage to the car in front of you, and that’s not to mention the damage to your own car!

So who’s at fault? And is it you?

We hear situations very similar to this one all the time. Unfortunately, in most cases, the car that hits the vehicle ahead (“you” in the scenario above”) is almost always held responsible for the damages. This is why it’s always important to stay a safe distance behind the car in front of you; after all, you never know when someone will suddenly slow down, or worse, slam on the brakes.
