Halloween Safety Tips

Halloween is approaching, and although your kids’ top priority will be how much candy they can get their hands on, your focus will be on their safety. Here are some tips we have to help make your Halloween safe and fun!

  • Always have an adult supervising a group of children. Children should never be trick-or-treating alone.
  • The best time to trick-or-treat is before dusk. If you are out after dark, be sure your group has flashlights, and try to wear light-colored costumes.
  • Be sure to examine all treats for tampering and choking hazards. Only eat factory-wrapped treats. Do not eat homemade treats.
  • Be sure your costumes are flame-resistant. With lit candles and luminaries around, be sure to avoid walking close to any fire.
  • Limit trick-or-treating to your neighborhood or areas you know well.

Of all of the scary things that happen during Halloween, worrying about your children’s safety shouldn’t be one of them. By following these simple safety precautions, you can enjoy your Halloween with little worry!
